Despite all the research supporting the need for social interaction, it seems like most moms do less and less of this.
Whatever the reason, the benefits of a good random night with the girls works wonders! It increases happiness, improves memory and cognitive skills, extends life span and of course—brings you tons of laughter and joy.
This past week, I was able to escape and enjoy some delicious food with a couple of old colleagues. It was great to see them again and talk about our many trips abroad, nightmare encounters in the office, and figuring out the “whatever-happened to” with the other coworkers.
Once the dinner was complete and we had our last beer, we walked each other to wherever everyone was going and said our goodbyes. Of course, we agreed to do it again very soon and much more often.
However, I couldn’t help but feel that it was all so fleeting and fast. I was sad thinking that getting together again wouldn’t be so easy.
So this week, I challenge you not to be me and let years go on without meeting up with like-minded people. Take the time – whether an evening, day or hour on the phone – to catch up and go out with friends.
If you can’t physically do it this week, then just plan it this week and get it done.
