What are the Common Core State Standards? The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is an initiative that provides a clear list of what students should learn in K-12 English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. They were designed to ensure that students graduating from high school have the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and pursue careers. In New York, the CCSS begin in pre-kindergarten. The CCSS will take effect at the start of the 2014-2015 academic year.
What are some requirements for the effective implementation of the CCSS?
Workshop will provide parents with tips in English and Spanish on what they can do to help their children with reading, writing, speaking, listening and language acquisition skills from pre-K to 3rd grade.
