When you’re raising a budding veterinarian, you might as well get used to them getting into all sorts of adventures. Fortunately, Ranger Rick Jr. makes it easy for them to do it from the comfort of their reading corners with the launch of Ranger Rick Jr. Magazine and the accompanying iOS Appventures.
In honor of 50 years of publishing animal stories with Ricky Raccoon, the National Wildlife Federation is launching its beginner-reader’s December issue for the under 7-yrs. old set, along with the iPad games-set. If you’ve seen the original magazine, then you know these products are the same age-appropriate animal content that generations have grown to love.
With the magazine, parents can expect an educational magazine, full of word games, a collection of facts, and beautiful and engaging pictures. Your kids—on the other hand—can expect hours of cool stuff, including a “Green Time” feature that’s designed to get kids interested in the great outdoors.
As for the app, there’s nothing better than seeing great games full of animals. It’s designed to completely engage your kids, keep them smiling and exploring, with the educational edge only the award-winning Ranger Rick knows how to impart. For my daughter, especially, the Animal Piano and Photo Safari were the best. Although she’s a Tween, any opportunity to make noise and take some pictures—is a complete win.
The fun facts that pop-up for kids are also a treat and perfect for any age. Like, did you know lions are the only animals with a mane?
So let your kids explore, create and play with Ricky and the rest of the gang. Learn more about the Ranger Rick collection here, and stay tuned for their Treehouse app for the regular (over 7-yrs. olds) Ranger Rick fans.
Recommended Age: 4 to 7 (also the young at heart)
Available: iPad for $4.99 on iTunes.
